Would you like to strengthen your reading skills so you can understand more complex real-life texts in the UK?
In this Developer course you'll work with a wider range of materials and learn how to read confidently for different purposes and audiences - from school policies and official letters to news features, community updates, workplace documents, and short scientific or factual texts.
This course is ideal for you if you already have basic reading skills in English and want to progress further by understanding more detailed, longer, and more formal texts used in everyday British life.
On this Developer-level English course you will learn how to:
- recognise more complex text types and understand their purpose and audience
- use skimming, scanning and selective reading strategies to find essential information efficiently
- understand main ideas, opinions and supporting details in news articles, school communications, official letters and workplace documents
- interpret community information, public notices, local council messages and health-related texts
- expand your vocabulary for life in the UK, including education, work, housing, health and community topics
- develop greater confidence in reading, understanding and discussing real-life texts used across the UK
The course runs for 6 sessions, each lasting 2 hours, in a friendly, supportive and interactive group setting. Learning activities include guided reading, pair and group tasks, real-life document analysis, vocabulary building and short discussions to check understanding.
